All About Peptides

Monday 10th October 2016

Peptides are the latest must have ingredient to add to your skincare regime, but what are they and what can they do for your skin?.

By definition, peptides are biologically occurring short chains of amino acid monomers linked by peptide bands.

Now, unless you are a scientist, this will mean very little, but basically they are proteins. We understand proteins as a food group needed for the growth and repair of tissues within the body, but they are also very important for your skin health.

A healthy, younger looking skin contains high levels of collagen, now there's a word you recognise! Collagen is a protein, and actually makes up about 30% of your body's total protein content, so now you can understand why using peptide containing products on your skin can improve elasticity and reduce wrinkles.

Not only do peptides improve collagen production within the body, they also act as moisture binding agents which have cell communicating properties to help repair the skin. In basic terms, this means they increase skins hydration levels, improve elasticity and firmness and increases cell turn over which means fresher, brighter healthier looking skin.

The efficiency of peptides in diminishing fine lines and wrinkles is comparable to that of retinols, but with faster results...well we like the sound of that!

Peptides are also incredibly safe, being mostly hypoallergenic and able to be used on sensitive skins, even for sufferers of rosacea and acne.

Environ's latest cream to join their skin health army is Avance DFP312. This anti aging dream contains a blend of 3 patented peptides which work in synergy to create a younger, firmer and more hydrated complexion. Easy to use and fits in with your current skincare routine this cream is set to be a total game changer.

As an added bonus, Environ are also offering their new Collagen Power Facial which uses a salon strength blend of peptides similar to those in the Avance DFP 312 cream. As quoted from the Environ Press Release

"The Environ® Professional Sono DPF 312™ serum has been formulated with a unique combination of peptides in a water-based serum for use during professional skin treatments with low frequency sonophoresis. It works to soften the look of fine lines, tighten the appearance of lax skin and refine the look of scarring and uneven skin texture. "
