IPL works by light being absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair causing it to heat up and the follicle to rupture. The IPL crystal is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The sensation felt by the client is likened to a warm elastic band being snapped against the skin.
