Lets talk about Rosacea

Thursday 8th September 2016

Rosacea is a common long term skin condition that affects the face.

1 in 10 people in the UK suffer with the condition, with it being more common in women, but more severe in men.

It is often found in lighter skin conditions and affects more people after the age of 30.

Common symptoms include;

  • Redness
  • Flushing
  • Painful pimples or pustules forming
  • Burning and Itching
  • Small blood veins becoming more visable

It can be caused by many things, but some of the underlying causes include

  • Exposure to sunlight
  • Heat
  • Stress
  • Exercise
  • Hormonal Fluctuations
  • Alcohol
  • Spicy Foods

There are several ways you can control rosacea.
Eliminating foods or drinks that worsen the condition can provide immediate relief, but for a long term treatment topical creams and internal supplements can help to re-balance your body.

We love Colostrum Gel from Environ. It contains bovine colostrum which supports the skins immunity, works well for combating redness and irritation, heals and soothes the skin and acts as an anti inflammatory. Vitamins E and C also act as anti oxidants preventing free radical damage.

Combining Colostrum Gel with AVST 1 gives you all the benefits of increased Vitamin A levels (check out our previous blog post on the benefits of vitamin A here)

Internal supplements can also help such as Skin Omegas which reduce inflammation, improve the skins immunity and increase hydration levels giving a calmer appearance to the skin.

We also offer IPL treatments to help reduce the appearance of thread veins which can worsen the redness associated with rosacea.

CACI Blue light therapy also helps to calm and soothe the area and regular treatments can give promising results.

If you think you are suffering with rosacea or know someone who is, feel free to pop along for an informal consultation and one of our experienced therapists will be able to give you some advice.
